The New Victoria Hospital
Conveniently close to London, The New Victoria Hospital is one of the UK’s leading specialist
independent hospitals.
A private hospital that is situated in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, serving the local communities
of Kingston, Richmond, Twickenham, Esher, Oxshott and Wimbledon.
The
New Victoria Hospital maintains close relations with all the major insurance companies and has
undergone extensive audits by both BUPA and PPP, as a result of which we are on both of these very
important networks. In addition our hospital is a BUPA Approved Breast Cancer Unit, a BUPA Approved
MRI Unit and a BUPA Approved Bowel Cancer Centre.
The New Victoria Hospital is very well equipped with state of the art equipment in our operating
theatres, the latest scanners and ultrasound facities in our Imaging/XRay department and new analysers
in our in-house Pathology laboratory.
All
of our rooms have en suite bath and/or shower and lavatory facilities, electrically
operated beds, satellite LCD flat screen TV, radio, direct dial telephones and bedside switches
for operating lights and the nurse call system.
We do not believe in intercom systems so that when our patients press the nurse call button by
their beds, a nurse arrives very promptly. Neither do we believe in having separate call buttons
for pantry staff as it is part of our philosophy that nurses deal with all of our patients' needs,
including the ordering of beverages which are available at all times to both patients, and
visitors at no charge.
Although the hospital is renowned for the level of its high-tech equipment, it also offers
a degree of hospitality and warmth usually associated with an exclusive hotel. It is the combination
of these apparently incompatible features which makes The New Victoria the envy of many of its
competitors and so worthy of patients’ praise.
Before admission
If
you are to be admitted to the hospital you will receive a letter informing you of the date
and time you need to arrive and details of what time you must stop eating and drinking (if you
are having a general anaesthetic).
Things to bring with you
- Current medication
- Nightwear
- Toothbrush
Day of admission
When you arrive at main reception you will be asked to complete a registration form. You will
then take a seat and within a few minutes your nurse will arrive to take you to your room. Once
you are in your room she will ask a series of questions and discuss with you what will happen
during your stay. She will also explain the various facilities in your room. You will find in
your room a hospital gown, dressing gown and slippers to wear to theatre.
About your room
All
patient rooms have an en suite shower or bathroom.
Rooms are equipped with new LCD flat screen TVs of the latest design which give extraordinarily
clear pictures and we have a limited Sky system as well as the five terrestrial channels. We also
offer four radio stations namely Radio 2, 3, 4 and Capital.
- A newspaper of your choice will be delivered free of charge each morning.
- Your room will be cleaned daily and fresh towels supplied.
- Each room has a telephone with a direct dial number.
A
patient questionnaire will be found in your room which we should be most grateful if you
would take the time to complete as this will help us to make sure that the services we provide
are kept at the highest possible level. There is a booklet in your room explaining our complaints
procedure should you wish to complain about any aspect of your stay or treatment.
Consent form
You will be asked at some point prior to your operation to sign a consent form which will ask you
to confirm that you are consenting to the procedure which has been fully explained to you by your
consultant or consultants. The plural would apply to the surgeon and anaesthetist in the case of
having an operation under a general anaesthetic.
This form must only be signed if you have fully understood what it is you are giving your
consent for.
